Cancellations

For this reason, it is imperative to give 24 hours notice for any cancellations. I need 24 hours to contact the next person on the waiting list, wait for their response, and if they can’t make it, go on to the next person on the list and so on. This takes time and labour. It is for this reason I need 24 hours cancellation time and a credit card on file upon booking. Your credit card will only be charged the full cancellation fee if you are a no-show without 24 hours notice. We do this to make it equally fair for all people during these challenging times.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling is not possible with less than 24 hours notice. It will be considered a short-notice cancellation and charged full price. However, in the event of an emergency (car accident, fire, etc.) and up to the discretion of Nina, the cancellation full price charge may be waived. Please note though, that failure to manage your own time is not an emergency and not a valid reason for short notice cancellation. If you think you might have to cancel short notice, text Nina several days before and see if she recommends cancelling (to give the appointment to another client) or keeping with the understanding you may need to cancel.

Lateness

For the same reasons, please let me know if you will be running late via text or phone. If you are more than 15 minutes late for services without a serious medical or emergency reason (like a car crash) and without notification, I reserve the right to reschedule the appointment and charge your credit card the full service fee as a no-show (see Cancellation policy). I understand we’re all busy and things happen, and I will accommodate real emergencies but cannot back up my schedule and everyone else’s if someone is simply late or lost track of their schedule. If it is your first appointment, please be sure you have the correct address and feel free to call or text on your way if you are getting lost to prevent being late.

These new policies have allowed for more fair booking procedures for everyone, no more lag time in my busy schedule, shorter wait times for you the client, and more lovely people, like you, being served more quickly! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! I can’t wait to work on your hair and make your hair dreams come true!

Pleasant Atmosphere

In order to ensure a pleasant and relaxing experience while you have your hair done with Nina, she asks that everyone refrain from telling her anything you would discuss with a therapist, a priest, or a coach. Doing hair takes up her focus and energy and even though she can listen and talk while doing hair doesn’t mean she can be in the middle of a heavy, serious, emotional conversation and do hair well. Although she cares about her clients, she is not a therapist and not qualified to give you insight or advice, nor is she trained for this so is unable to do that type of work without experiencing emotional burnout. She is honoured that so many of her clients feel so safe with her that they want to share, and she cares about them enough that she wants to help, but after much thought, she realizes the best way to help is to refer you to the people who have helped her and who she can personally recommend, whether that is a great eyebrow person or a great healer. If you are going through an emotional time or are stressed, tell Nina at the beginning of your appointment that you need the “spa treatment” and she and you can co-create a pleasant atmosphere for you with essential oils, liquid smudge, pulling a tarot card or choosing a crystal to sit with, putting on soothing music, and giving you a refreshing beverage to enjoy, but not talk about personal problems. Think of being with Nina as an oasis to be away from your problems and not a therapist’s office to get into your problems. If you still wish for her insight, she is happy to recommend people qualified to do that work.

Likewise, Nina reserves the right to terminate any hair treatment or appointment without refund in the event of abusive treatment towards her or any others in her space. Let’s keep it a safe and supportive space for all by remembering that although it often feels like Nina is a healer (of hair), she is not a therapist to deal with people’s personal problems or know how to handle abusive behaviour. Hairstylists are people too and need some professional boundaries to be able to maintain their positive attitude with clientele and pass on the love. ❤️
